Rockland Community Against Hunger Distributes 1 Million Meals During the Pandemic
By Nancy Cutler, Rockland/ Westchester Journal News – March 4, 2021
Rockland Community Against Hunger, was featured in the news as we reached an amazing milestone— distributing 1.2 million pounds of food during the pandemic. That is the equivalent of 1 million meals, one year after ramping up food distributions and food rescue to meet rising demand in Rockland County.
Big thanks to our amazing partner organizations TOUCH, BRIDGES, Meals on Wheels of Rockland, and the Martin Luther King Community Center, as well as our wonderful Rockland Conservation & Service Corps volunteers, and our hosts Rockland County and the Town of Ramapo. The food comes from the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley and the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern NY, as well as many supermarkets, box stores, farms and bakeries in Rockland County.
